Launch day is a poor moment to discover that the phone number is an image, or that the contact form sends nowhere. This checklist is the short version of what we look for before a site goes live.
The enquiry
- A person can call, with a tap, from the first screen of a phone
- The number on the site matches the number on Google Business Profile and your van or letterhead
- The form asks for the few facts you need to reply, and no more
- You have received a test enquiry, including the notification email
- The thank-you message tells people what happens next and how quickly
- Spam protection exists, and it does not block a normal person
The pages
- Each important service has its own page, in your words
- There is one clear main heading on each page
- The homepage says what you do, where, and what to do next
- Claims, accreditations and prices are ones you can stand behind
- Reviews are real, and you have permission to show them
- The privacy notice is linked beside any form
The phone in your pocket
Open the site on the phone you actually use, on mobile data, not only on the office Wi-Fi.
- Text is readable without pinching
- Buttons are easy to hit with a thumb
- The page does not jump as pictures load
- It still makes sense on a slow connection
- Pinch-to-zoom is not switched off
Search and measurement
This is the list that stops the avoidable mistakes that keep a decent site invisible.
- The site uses HTTPS
- Each page has its own title and description
- A sitemap and robots.txt exist
- Old addresses redirect to the new ones if you are replacing a site
- Google Analytics, or your chosen analytics, is recording a visit you just made
- Search Console is verified, and the sitemap has been submitted
- Google Business Profile points at the new site
